To calculate the quantity of paint required for your project

We aim to 'shake up' the Paint Industry by To estimate the quantity of paint required for a room, fill in the form below.

Calculate areas for EACH type of paint required separately i.e. do not include the ceiling area when calculating the wall area. Ceilings and walls have different paints.

The quantity of paint required depends on the surface area to be covered, the spreading rate of the paint and the number of coats using the form below is a simple way to calculate your needs.

Quantity of Paint Calculation
To calculate the surface area of a wall, multiply the height in metres by the length in metres
i.e. Area (sq m) = Height (m) x Length (m)
Surface area (sq m)
* Spreading rate per litre (m)
Number of coats

Litres required

* Note: Spreading rate will vary from 10-15 sq. metres per litre depending on the porous nature of the surface.

For new plaster, budget for approximately 10 sq. metres per litre and for top coats budget for about 15 sq. metres per litre.
